Code of Conduct

The following are guidelines for students and parents, detailing what is required of the students at LKKB in terms of rules to be observed and behaviour that is acceptable. This code of conduct is based upon self-discipline, good behaviour both in and out of class, smart appearance, punctuality, respect and consideration for others and their property, politeness and good manners, honesty, tolerance and sense of belonging.

Students should pay attention to the following points for conduct:

1. Leaves

If any student is absent from school for sick leave or special leave, parents should call the school general office, fill in the attendance record in the handbook and submit a parent’s letter or medical certificate to the class teacher on his/her return.

2. Early leave due to sickness or other reasons

Parents should approach to the school general office and fill in the ‘Early Leave Form’ and should personally pick students up.

3. Punctuality

Attendance record can be found in the student's handbook. Any student who is late for 5 days will be given the first written record by the Guidance & Discipline team and he/ she shall be given a verbal advice by the Guidance & Discipline team and the class teacher; Any student who is late for 10 days, a parent's meeting will be arranged to see the class teacher and the Guidance & Discipline team and the second written record will be given; Any student who is late for 15 days shall meet the Guidance & Discipline team with his/ her parents and the late arrival record will be printed in the report card.

4. Student's handbook and homework checklist

- Parents should check and sign homework checklist every day.

- Students should keep their homework checklist clean and tidy. They must not deface, stick any forms of stickers. Name chops with any forms of pictures are not allowed to be stamped on the front covers of student's  handbook, homework checklist and school exercise books.

- P.1 & P.2 students must use pencils to write on the homework checklists.

- P.3 to P.6 students must use blue biros or pens to write on the homework checklists. Any mistakes must be crossed out with the blue pen. Correction pens or fluid such as Tipp-Ex are not allowed for corrections.

- Students must have their body temperature taken every day and fill in the record on the homework checklist.

5. General Conduct Proper conduct for students includes:

a) going up the stairs on the left-hand side and down on the right-hand side. Each class shall pause shortly on each floor for checking discipline;

b) lining up as boys on the left and girls on the right for queues;

c) NOT bringing any toys, consoles, mobile phones or Mp3 players to school. Any student who needs to bring their mobile phones for any special reasons must submit a parents' letter to school indicating the reasons and purposes. The student then allows to bring his/ her mobile phone upon the school’s approval;

d) only going ups and downs using staircase #4 or #5 and only #3 on rainy days;

e) staying in the classroom or ground floor during recess and lunch recess. Staying, playing and wondering in the corridor or other floors are not allowed. Moreover, students must not run or shout in the classrooms;

f) going back to the classrooms using staircase #4 for P.1 to P.3 after recess and lunch recess; Going back to the classrooms using staircase #5 for P.4 to P.6; and

g) NOT bringing any dangerous goods to school such as any sharp implements, except those used in schools.

6. Manners & Attitudes Proper manners & attitudes for students include:

a) knocking on the door before entering any classrooms;

b) saying ‘Good morning/ afternoon’ while seeing the principal, teachers, general staff, janitors, parents or other students; nodding heads while going ups and downs on the staircase;

c) actively apologizing or thanking when needed;

d) saying “Good morning, afternoon or goodbye” when entering or exiting the staff room;

e) speaking politely and not using any compulsive or foul language.

7. School Uniform All students should:

a) wear tidy school uniform to school.

b) follow the school's instruction to wear appropriately. Any student who has any requests in dressing must have parents fill in the notifications to school section in the student’s handbook and inform the class teacher. The class teacher will then refer the request to the Guidance & Discipline team for approval.

c) wear short white socks and black shoes (except for boots). Girls should wear long

e) not tuck in school shirts for summer uniform for boys.

f) not tuck in sportswear shirts for winter uniform.

g) wear school coats, fleeces and dark blue scarves (ones which are subscribed by the school only) upon the needs of the students during winter. In this regard however, sports jackets are not allowed to be worn with school uniforms.

h) For conditions under “Cold Weather Warning” or below temperature of 15oC, students are allowed to wear dark blue or black jackets or downs. Girls are allowed to wear winter sportswear.

8. Appearance, Headwear and Hairstyle

a) Only black or yellow simple headwear should be worn for girls.

b) All students must not have bangs crossing eyebrows.

c) Boys' hairstyle should be plain and simple. The length of hair should not reach the collar. For girls, long hair should be tied with hairclips or ties.

d) Hair dye and hair spray are prohibited.

e) Earrings are prohibited for boys (for any special reasons, the parents should submit written applications to the Guidance & Discipline team for approval). Girls are allowed to wear one simple pair of earrings only. f) All students must have their fingernails clipped regularly for tidiness.

9. Keeping the campus and classroom clean

Students should:

a) keep the campus and classroom clean. Any rubbish should be thrown into the rubbish bin;

b) not bring soup noodles, ice-lollies, food with soy-sauce or any kinds of sauce to the classroom before school commences/ during recess and lunch recess;

c) avoid writing using mechanical pencils and bring enough pencils to school for writing;

d) keep the toilets clean. They should not play in the toilets either. They should wash hands after use and save water. They should not throw any rubbish anywhere inappropriate in the toilets.

10. Homework

a) Students should submit all of the homework every day.

b) Any student who have 10-day overdue homework in a month will receive an overdue notice from the class teacher; For those who have 20-day overdue will receive the second overdue notice.

c) Any student who receives 5 overdue notice in a term will have his/ her conduct grades revised, so on and so forth.

11. Using phones in school

Students are allowed to use phones under special circumstances and when they are given a 'Phone borrowing permit'.

12. Rain Gear

For safety reasons, students should wear raincoats instead of bring umbrellas to school. Students are also required to bring a spare rain gear and should be kept in the classroom shelves.

13. Own Property Management

Students are expected not to bring any valuables such as mobile phones, mp3 players, gold necklaces and portable concoles…etc. to school. If needed, students should bring small amount of cash to school and should keep it safe at all times.

14. Use of the elevator

For safety reasons, students should not use the elevator. Any student who is injured or with mobility difficulties with any reasons, he/ she must be accompanied by teachers or adults to use the elevator.

*In case of any discrepancy between the English version and the Chinese version, the Chinese version shall prevail.
